Purpose

The waters cap in a spray of white
A perfected dance of liquid delight
Ever searching to make their way to land
Only to die when they reach the sand

What a disappointment it must be
To lose perspective, it’s purpose not see
To think it should be what it is not
And feelings of failure be it’s lot

God never intended for it to reach
Farther inland than the beach
The purpose for the delightful wave
Is to show God’s beauty, and for children to play

How many souls find themselves there
Forsaking their purpose and live in despair
Believing they should be what they are not
And feelings of failure be their lot

The last part of this poem really got me, it reassures me that I’m doing the right thing.
